A Walk in the Garden

Monday, March 17, 2014

What girl in the world hasn't watched Lizzie McGuire the movie yet? When I was just a little girl this film became one of my favorite ones for many reasons: high school girl visits Rome, meets Italian boy, drives on a red Vespa discovering the city, and I definitely must not forget to mention the romantic scene where Lizzie and her chubby Paolo are having fun at the beautiful gardens surrounded by many fountains. Do you remember?

It may sound a little stupid, but I really wanted to get out of busy Rome for a day. Visiting the gardens from the movie was probably the first place I wrote down on my day-trips-out-of-Rome to-do list and yesterday it was time to go. Finally!

For the ones who don't know, the gardens are located at Villa d'Este in Tivoli, about 32km away from Rome. It was SO beautiful! I've seen it plenty of times in the film, but movie scenes are always a bit different right? So I was a little suspicious about what it would look like in real life, but honestly, it was even prettier! Villa d'Este is a very green, quiet and peaceful place and the only thing you hear is water falling down. So relaxing!

Afterwards me and my friend had lunch on a small balcony of a restaurant. Italy is known for its pizza and pasta, but the one I had yesterday was so tasteful! Perfect relaxing Sunday for me! How was your weekend?

Golf Cart Crossing

Saturday, March 15, 2014

Time flies by so fast! Can't believe that I have been 'living' in Rome for almost 2 months! But no need to worry, I still have three months to go! As some of you might know, I'm an intern at ANDIAMO! Services, a company that organizes Italian events, team building activities, incentives, etc. in many Italian and Dutch cities. Together with my colleagues, I'm responsible for the marketing & communication department, meaning that I mainly take care of writing blogs, social media, newsletters, HR, and any other thing that is important to promote the company. Except for, of course, the weekends, I work at the office every day, but yesterday I was able to go outside! We organized a golf cart tour for a group and me and my colleague were happy to go with them and ensure that everything was going the way the tour was planned. Luckily everything went smoothly, it was such a nice experience! Besides the fact that I could spend a day outside the office, golf cart crossing in Rome is a very fun and relaxing way to discover the city! You see every single highlight while a guide tells you all the ins and outs of the city.

I might be honest with you that driving (or sitting in) a golf cart was seriously on my to-do list haha. Never thought I would actually do this in Rome! So yes, I really could recommend you to rent a golf cart when you visit this beautiful city!

Burgundy Lips

Sunday, March 9, 2014

Even though it's almost Spring I have been catching myself searching for a dark red lipstick. For a lipstick it's quite important that it completely fits your skin color, it can make or break your face. That's easy to say though, because it can be difficult to find a proper color. On Pinterest I saw many times the MAC Diva passing by and also in some blogs I've read many recommendations about this burgundy lipstick. When walking in the city centre I saw the MAC shop so I decided to go inside. Firstly I just took a look.. yes just a look, I might or might not even found it a bit too scary to try it on haha! Anyway, a week after I went back to the shop and asked the shop-assistant if I could try it on. I really liked it, but still felt a bit uncomfortable wearing it.. I mean red, coral, pink or a light bright lip gloss are colors I frequently wear on my lips, but a dark color is totally different! I went home and looked in the mirror a couple of times doubting whether I should go back the next day, because even though I find it scary to wear, I wanted a burgundy lipstick anyway. This seemed the right color for me, so why would I be hesitating? This not-so-dare-devil eventually convinced herself to buy it the next day. You never know what it's good for, right ladies?

The MAC Diva is such a beautiful and elegant burgundy lipstick. Even if you make the color softer, it would still look good. Also, this lipstick is a very easy color everyone could wear! So the only thing I need to have is the guts to wear it haha! As you can see in the picture down below, the color seems not so dark, but when you put it on your lips, believe me, the color is much deeper as you can see in the second picture. You will probably see me wearing it in one of my next outfit posts.

Would you wear a dark colored lipstick like this? Or what other color do you prefer?

Sunday Feelings

Sunday, March 2, 2014

After a few busy days, or actually weeks, today has been all about relaxing and loading batteries so far. I’ve just been hanging around the house in my most comfy outfit. My work, or internship actually, asks lots of energy from me. Every time I get home I feel like falling asleep immediately, so from time to time I think I deserve a lazy day like this. I’m probably not going to be staying inside the house all day, because I know myself and it would make me crazy, so I think I just put on my running clothes and go for a run later today.

It's already March, yet there are no leaves and flowers in Rome. Still waiting for them to come!

Enjoy your weekend!
