The Perfect Trench Coat

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Do you remember my Spring wish list where I wished for the perfect trench coat? I adore the Burberry ones so much and I think there’s no other brand that designs an even more beautiful trench coat than Burberry. Unfortunately, those coats are pretty expensive, so I was looking for a more affordable, still perfect, one. I can easily say that I’ve been searching for a long, long time and right at the point I started to give up and wanted postpone it to next Spring, I met this beauty from Zara.

This trench coat has the perfect color and the model with the almost-knee-length is great. It’s not too long and not too short. The brown buttons and the golden details on the sleeves and the belt make this model complete. The material is a bit sturdy, but that’s exactly what I was looking for. I bet you can already read my enthusiasm here haha.

P.s., Did I already mention that I absolutely love this coat? :)

Operation Market Garden

Saturday, September 20, 2014

Happy weekend everyone! Today I have a not so common post for you, because I'm taking you back in time. At least, that's where I felt like living in today...

If I say '70 years ago...' you would probably think of World War II. Yes indeed guys, that's what I want to talk about. We all know the interesting stories about this dramatic period and, as for me, I never can get enough of it. I'm very interested in this topic and I want to know everything about it. From time to time I love to watch WWII movies and documentaries and to hear elderly people telling their experiences and stories. I always try to imagine what it was like to be living back then. It must have been so terrifying (more than terrifying, and even billion times worse).

Ok, so WWII, we all know about that, but why do I want to write a post about it? Well, exactly 70 years ago Operation Market Garden (Battle of Arnhem) started. It was the biggest airborne operation in history. Over 40,000 American, British and Polish soldiers tried to liberate the Netherlands by breaking through German lines and seize several bridges in the occupied country. Unfortunately this plan didn't have the expected outcome, because the bridge in Arnhem was proved to be 'a bridge too far'. Only the southern part of Holland was liberated and because of the 'failure' of Operation Market Garden, the provinces above the great rivers experienced the Hongerwinter (Hunger Winter, or, the Dutch famine of 1944). To commemorate the 70th Anniversary, a troop recreated Operation Market Garden by undertaking a march over the Lower Rhine in memory of the soldiers who didn't return. Just like the real Operation, the troop crossed each of the nine bridges, meaning that they crossed my little village too! Something interesting finally happened here today haha! All the people of this little-(unknown)-Dutch-country-village gathered together and celebrated this commemoration with waving flags. All week long I've been seeing soldiers in jeeps and tanks crossing the roads, recreating the liberation. So funny and very impressive at the same time.

Unexpectedly I have an evening off tonight, yay! I'm so tired of working all week and since I'm feeling a little nostalgic today, I think I'm going to snuggle up in bed with a blanket and a cup of hot tea and watch the movie 'A Bridge Too Far', which tells the story of Operation Market Garden. A funny fact: my mother was at work when they shot this movie, she saw it all happening from her workplace haha.

Grey and White

Monday, September 15, 2014

It's been a week since I last posted something on my blog. I've been pretty busy working and I didn't have the time to post something earlier than today.. Sorry you guys!

I quickly wanted to share a post about my outfit of today. Apparently Autumn hasn't completely arrived yet as the temperatures have been pretty high for this time of the year and it also seems that it will continue for at least another two weeks! You don't hear me complaining haha. To keep the 'Summer' feeling alive, I feel like wearing light colors such as grey and white.. and of course, not to forget, my sunglasses and ballerina flats.

I also would like to thank my readers and followers for giving me sweet complements on my posts and photos. You guys let me smile every time I read them, I really appreciate it. I was thinking.. maybe I can write a Q+A post? What do you think about that? Let me know in the comment box down below.

Have a nice week everyone!

Olive Green

Monday, September 8, 2014

Happy Monday everyone! Just a quick post about what I wore on a birthday party last week and, as promised here, a look that includes my new classic black heels. As you probably know, I don't wear that many colors, but every time I wear something green, I receive so many sweet complements. Green and other earth tones happen to match my skin tone very well, it makes my skin look warmer I suppose. This top is definitely one of my favorites. Olive/moss green is such a beautiful color and the open back is just lovely.

P.s. When writing this post, I realized that the pictures are very, very green today haha.

Classic Black Pump

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

''A woman can never have too many shoes!'' Yes ladies, I have a weak-spot for shoes too. Most of the time I wear comfy shoes such as ballerina flats, sandals, boots, or, in some cases, my converse. I only have a few pair of heels, but luckily I caught myself wearing them more often.

I've been looking for a classic black pump for a while now, but it's actually quite hard to find the perfect pair. I have to admit that I can be a little too picky sometimes, but when I ran into these SuperTrash black heels the other day, it was love at first sight. In my opinion it has the perfect high heel and the pointy toe creates an elegant finish. I couldn't walk away empty handed, they’re simply too gorgeous!

You’ll see some better pictures in one of my upcoming outfit post. Stay tuned! :)

Autumn Wishes

Monday, September 1, 2014

Blue skies, rain, thunder, sunshine, clouds, pouring rain, blue skies, drizzle, sunshine, clouds, rain.. That basically describes the weather for the last couple of days here and I haven't even mentioned the temperatures yet. It fluctuates all the time!

Yes, it can easily be said that summer is coming to an end now, but my love for fall clothes and the idea that burning candles are allowed again, make it easier to accept that autumn is around the corner. Eventually when all my hopes for warm summer evenings are given up, I'm totally getting excited for fall. So let's take a peek at some of my autumn wishes.

Black coat - SuperTrash / Faux fur jacket - Sir Oliver / Scarfs - Acne Studios / Hat - SuperTrash / Bag - Ralph Lauren / Faux fur vest - Zara / Jeans - SuperTrash /  Sweater - Zara / White sweater - Ralph Lauren

I'm afraid that I'm about to start having a thing for coats and jackets. I always found them annoying and I was glad I could finally take them off, but I guess I start to like them more. As you can see above, faux fur is something I've got my eye glued on as well. I find it so cozy and it's just a perfect piece for fall, just like a hat. I also have been looking for the perfect cognac brown leather bag. I saw the Ralph Lauren bag online and I totally adore it. Too bad it's not available in Holland at the moment. But who knows! A new pair of blue jeans (and maybe a burgundy one since mine sadly enough died) is also a must-add in my closet. And as for the scarfs and sweaters.. I don't think you need an explanation for that. These are just crucial items for autumn and winter. Love them!

What are your wishes for this autumn? Do you have one specific item you're craving for?
